NSU Observes World Pharmacists Day 2025 with Academic and Community Engagement

North South University (NSU) celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2025 on Thursday with a series of academic and community engagement programs jointly organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the NSU Pharmaceutical Club.

This year’s observance aligned with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”, highlighting the pivotal role of pharmacists in advancing healthcare and public well-being.

The program commenced with a rally and a formal ceremony graced by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU; Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer and Pro-Vice Chancellor (In-Charge); Professor Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health Sciences; Syed A. B. Tahmeed, Director of Marketing and Sales, Synovia Pharma; and Professor Dr. Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Speakers emphasized the expanding responsibilities of pharmacists in ensuring medication safety, promoting health literacy, advancing preventive care, and supporting sustainable healthcare. They also called for stronger integration of pharmacists into policymaking, research, and community health initiatives.

The day featured interactive sessions between students and faculty, along with public engagement activities designed to raise awareness of the pharmacist’s role in society. NSU reaffirmed its commitment to preparing pharmacy graduates who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to national and global health priorities.
