On 29 September 2025, a delegation from the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh visited the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) to discuss avenues for future collaboration.

This delegation was led by Debra Boyce counsellor and senior trade commissioner and Quazi Gulam Farhad trade commissioner. They were warmly received by the AIUB management and senior officials, including:

  • Ishtiaque Abedin trust member and secretary general APUB
  • Saiful Islam vice chancellor
  • Nisar Ahmed treasurer
  • Anwar Hossain advisor and dean-in-charge faculty of Business Administration of AIUB

Also present were Abu Mia Akanda Tuhin head of Public Relations and Saadi Islam public relations officer of AIUB.

These discussions centered on potential academic collaborations between AIUB and Canadian universities. Key areas of focus included:

  • Student exchange programs to broaden international learning opportunities
  • Faculty engagement through academic visits and training initiatives
  • Joint research collaborations in areas of mutual interest

Both parties emphasized the importance of fostering global academic partnerships and expanding higher education opportunities for AIUB students. This visit marks a significant step toward building stronger ties between AIUB and Canadian higher education institutions.

✅ Eligibility Criteria for BPharm at AIUB

🏠 Nationality Requirements

  • Bangladeshi Applicants: Must be permanent residents of Bangladesh.
  • International Applicants: Only eligible to apply under reserved seats approved by the Government of Bangladesh.

📚 Academic Requirements

For SSC & HSC (Bangla Medium) or Equivalent:

  • Must belong to the Science group.
  • Minimum combined GPA of 8.00 (out of 10) in SSC and HSC.
  • Minimum individual GPA of 3.50 (out of 5) in both SSC and HSC.

Required Subject-Wise GPA:

  • Chemistry & Biology: Minimum GPA 3.50 each.
  • Physics & Mathematics: Minimum GPA 3.00 each.

For O-Level & A-Level (English Medium):

  • Must have a background in science subjects.
  • Recommended grade:
    • ‘B’ in Chemistry and Biology
    • ‘C’ in Physics and Mathematics

🧮 Additional Course Requirement

  • Applicants with no Mathematics in HSC/A-Level or GPA below 3.00 in Mathematics:
    • May still be admitted.
    • Must complete an additional 3-credit Mathematics course aligned with the BPharm curriculum.

📆 Academic Year Limitation

  • Must have completed HSC or A-Level within the current year or the past two years.

🌐 International Student Requirements

  • Must have completed 12 years of education (equivalent to HSC/A-Level).
  • Must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Bangladesh Pharmacy Council.
  • Must pay any required processing fees.

AIUB Hosts 3-Day Workshop on Inclusive Education Toolkit under British Council’s TNE Program with Nottingham Trent University

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully hosted a three-day hands-on workshop titled “Introduction to the Inclusive Education Toolkit: Supporting Disadvantaged and Excluded Individuals and Communities in Bangladesh” from 22–24 June 2025 at Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka.

The workshop was organized as part of the British Council’s Transnational Education (TNE) initiative under the project “Generative AI for Good.” The event was a collaborative effort among AIUB and Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK.

Featuring 10 technical sessions, the workshop focused on AI-powered tools and inclusive strategies designed to support learners with disabilities, neurodiversity, and socio-economic challenges. Esteemed resource persons joined from Bangladesh, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia representing NTU (UK), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM, KSA) and AIUB.

Opening Ceremony – 22 June

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman, Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), as the Chief Guest.


Prof. Dr. M. Mahfuzur Rahman and Mr. Toufiq Hasan (British Council) joined as Special Guests, while Prof. Dr. David J. Brown (NTU, UK) served as the Guest of Honor.


The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB.

Closing Ceremony – 24 June

The Closing Ceremony featured Prof. Dr. M. Kamrul Ahsan as Chief Guest.


Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam (UGC), Dr. Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan (UGC), and Mr. David Knox (British Council) attended as Special Guests, with Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB chairing the session.
