North South University Hosts Launch of NIPPON AI Dojo, a Japan-Backed AI Education Program in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh – September 21, 2025 — North South University (NSU) officially hosted the opening ceremony and orientation of the NIPPON AI Dojo, a cutting-edge AI education program supported by the Government of Japan, on its Dhaka campus this Sunday.

The ceremony was graced by Abdul Hannan Chowdhury vice chancellor of NSU who attended as the chief guest, along with Abdur Rob Khan treasurer of NSU as the special guest.

Japan-Backed AI Program Launches in Bangladesh

The NIPPON AI Dojo is a free AI training initiative jointly organized by Chowagiken Japan and AI Samurai Japan, with funding and support from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The program is currently being run as part of a feasibility study project aimed at fostering AI education in Bangladesh and creating a skilled, future-ready workforce.

NSU and Brac University Collaborate on Pilot Batch

The inaugural phase of the program is being conducted in collaboration with two leading Bangladeshi universities: North South University and Brac University. The response to the program was overwhelming, with over 350 students applying, out of which only 20 students—10 from each university—were selected for the pilot cohort.

The AI Dojo program will run from September 2025 to January 2026, providing selected students with hands-on experience in AI project development, mentorship from industry experts, and exposure to real-world, industry-driven AI solutions.

Empowering Bangladesh’s Future in the Global AI Industry

As the global AI industry experiences exponential growth and the demand for skilled AI engineers surges, Bangladesh is poised to play a significant role. The NIPPON AI Dojo is designed to bridge the skill gap by equipping Bangladeshi students with practical AI competencies, paving the way for a knowledge-based economy.

This initiative not only benefits Bangladesh by developing industry-ready graduates but also serves Japan by creating a pipeline of motivated, well-trained AI professionals to meet its tech workforce demands.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to empower our youth with the tools to lead in the AI space, both locally and globally,” said Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury during the opening ceremony.
