UIU Hosts Conclave on the Future of AI and Cybersecurity

Dhaka, September 27, 2025United International University (UIU) organized a high-level program titled “Future of AI and Cyber Security: Government-Academia-Industry Conclave 2025” on Saturday at the UIU campus in Dhaka.

The conclave brought together more than 250 participants, including technology professionals, distinguished experts, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders, for in-depth discussions on the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity in Bangladesh.

The program opened with two keynote presentations delivered by Professor Khondaker A. Mamun, Director of the MSCSE Program and IRIIC, UIU, who spoke on artificial intelligence, and Professor Shohrab Hossain, Department of CSE, UIU, who addressed the state of cybersecurity.

Following the keynotes, a panel discussion titled “Industry-Academia-Government Dialogue on AI and Cybersecurity” examined opportunities and challenges in integrating AI and cybersecurity into Bangladesh’s digital transformation. Panelists included:

  • Imadur Rahman, Managing Director & CEO, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited
  • Nurul Hai, Managing Director, Startup Bangladesh
  • Shariful Alam, CEO, Felicity IDC Limited
  • Anika Ali, Director, Techno Green Carbon Limited
  • SAR Md Muinul Islam, PMP, CTO & Director, LankaBangla Securities Plc
    alongside noted academicians.

The program also welcomed distinguished guests of honor:

  • Mohammad Wahid Hossain, Chairman, Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council
  • Md Sibgat Ullah, Additional Inspector General, Chief of Criminal Investigation Department, Bangladesh Police
  • Mashrur Arefin, Managing Director & CEO, The City Bank Limited, and Chairman, Association of Bankers Bangladesh
  • M. Rezwan Khan, Professor Emeritus, UIU, and Chairman, Power Grid Bangladesh

The event was presided over by Professor Md Abul Kashem Mia, Vice-Chancellor of United International University, who underscored the university’s commitment to driving forward-thinking discussions that connect government, academia, and industry to address the nation’s digital security and innovation needs.
